Entries from December 2008
It has been a really long time since I’ve blogged and unfortunately it has also been a really long time since I’ve been running. I went to Feet First a couple weeks ago to ask about my shoes to find out that I’ve gone about 150 miles TOO FAR on my shoes, thus discovering the source of my knee and feet pain. That kinda put a kibosh on the running for a bit. Well last weekend I went and purchased new shoes. The nice and knowledgeable lady who works there helped fit me and I think I finally found a pair of shoes that I love.

I’m very excited about my new shoes! I went for a run on Sunday to break them in. I still had a little bit of knee pain, but I think as I break the shoes in and ramp up (rebuild my base) my mileage, I’ll be okay. Unfortunately due to the holidays and grad school business and whatnot, running has taken a back seat. Furthermore, with work, internship, grad school and NYE coming up, I’m not sure when I’ll run. Ugh. I really need to make it a priority.
I’m coming up on my second running anniversary. I started running January 15th, 2007. Maybe it seems silly, but I definitely feel like it marks a shift in who I was versus who I am today. I’ll do something to celebrate, but I just wanted to mention it.
Running aside, the holidays were good. A lot of traditions were broken this year, which is sad. I’m really not a fan of change unless it’s change I initiate. I got an iphone, some pj pants, a sweet eco-friendly water bottle and tickets to Spring Awakening. I’m totally stoked about the Spring Awakening. For someone who wants to pursue a career in theatre, it’s been far too long since I’ve seen any live theatre.
Work tomorrow. I’m soo looking forward to that. [That statement is dripping with sarcasm.] Then adventure/concert with my favorite adventuring friend. Heck yes for the weekend!

So for the first time since I moved back to St. Pete I got to come home on my lunch break and oh man, I REALLY don’t want to go back. Can it be Friday at 6:15 yet? Or if I do have to go back to work, can the day just absolutely fly by? Also, please no nasty customers, buses full of old people or large withdrawals. That would be brilliant. I am SO ready for it to be the weekend. Not that I have a relaxing weekend ahead of me, but anything is better than work. Bah-hum bug. Back to work, I guess.

I’m thinking of writing down some of my crazy retail stories because generally they’re amusing and perhaps other people would find humor in them as well.
- The other day I helped a guy in the drive thru and when I was finished with his transaction he slid a business card in the drawer and told me that it was his card. When I picked it up, it was business card that literally said “My Card.” Silly old men.
- Yesterday we had a guy who had money wired into his account the previous day wanting to make a very large cash withdrawal, which is an ordeal and a half. So the person who was helping him, when through all the steps and cashed his withdrawal out to him and off he went. Or so we thought, 10 minutes later my manager brings almost all of the cash back to be deposited into the SAME account that he had withdrawn from minutes before. He apparently wanted to KNOW that the cash was in there for him.
- We also had a little old lady break one of the drive thru lanes this afternoon. She sent $10 worth of dimes and $4 worth of nickles and when they slammed down, quite literally into the bank side of the tube, it screwed up the sensors. Now the lane makes this horrible sound that won’t stop until you turn the lane off whenever a tube comes in or goes out. Ugh.
Running relate – I’m convinced I need new shoes. My knees have been just slightly bothering me and I’m sure it’s because of running with old shoes. I skipped the jingle bell run because by the time it was about to be race time I had already been downtown for 3 hours and just wanted to go home.
I’m really planning on doing the Tallahassee Half Marathon, which is in a little over a month and a half. I HAVE to do a longish run this weekend. I have a hair cut Saturday morning, so I’m thinking that if I get up early, run, shower, get my hair cut and then I can go study somewhere on 4th street, then that would make me super productive. I told M that I have a date with grad school this weekend. I need to write my statement of purpose, revise my writing samples AND study for the GRE which I’m taking NEXT weekend. I’m not quite sure that dating grad school can be filed under my bad date/story worthy date category. Blah.
I need a laptop case so that I can take my sexy new computer with me to study and whatnot. I also want some new AE PJ bottoms for Christmas. And new rainbows. Anyone want to make that happen for me? If you’re feeling generous, you should buy me an iphone and pay for the service as well. Yep.

I did a 5 mile run on Saturday and about 2 1/2 miles in my right knee started bothering the heck out of me. Of course, being stupid, I kept running and running. The last mile or so I caved and alternated between walking and running.
Anyway, my stupid knee ruined a good run and as a preventative measure I didn’t run Sunday and I was lazy today. I think I need new shoes. I figured it out and I have 425.19 miles on these. Maybe Santa will bring me new running shoes… or at least a gift certificate for new ones.
I’m trying to decide if I want to Jingle Bell run on Wednesday. I’m feeling kinda eh about it, because it’s money to run 3 miles, but it might be a lot of fun… so maybe? I guess only time will tell.
